What is Wu Shu? Wu Shu means "War Art", basically this means martial arts. It is what we are referring to when we say "Kung Fu". Within Wu Shu are may styles from solid movements that are stance based with explsive power, to acrobatic movements that are speed based. To lessen this confusion, we refer to our solid Shaolin forms, techniques, & style as Kung Fu, and we refer to the fast competition forms involving acrobatics as Wu Shu. At the Kung Fu Academy, we train in several different areas: Kung Fu Wu Shu Weaponry Tai Qi Sparring Close Combative Techniques Each of the above are like a separate sport, these are however, all combined into our Kung Fu classes. Types of competition Wu Shu learnt: Nan Quan Chang Quan Xiao Wu Shu (wubuquan) Wu Shu Weaponry Shaolin Quan (Various harder Shaolin Style forms) For more information, ask one of our instructors, or send us an email. Each year, the KFA goes over to the PRC for a few weeks of intensive training. We go to different cities each time, and focus on different aspects of the art. You can check out the 2008 trip DVD, available now at the KFA office!
